Ella Murray, a junior at Marina High in California, won the Division 2 girls varsity race at the Orange County Championships at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, Calif. Murray covered the 3-mile course in 17:54.6 to help Marina take third with 129 points. Murray was one of 22 female athletes overall, including girls varsity and sweepstakes races, to eclipse the 18-minute barrier.
